3 Easy Festive Ways To Upgrade Your New Year’s Eve Makeup

The stress of what to wear for New Year’s Eve is enough of a hassle. Throw in the desire to upgrade your makeup for one night and you’re looking at a whole other level of anxiety. I’ve learned the hard way! The easiest thing to do is stick to your normal makeup routine but find one way to switch things up. I called up my girlfriend, celebrity makeup artist Ashley Gomila and had her come over so we could collab on a few festive but easy ways to turn-up my classic look for the most celebratory night of the year.

Glittery Eyes

Nothing says festive more than glitter! But buyer beware. Not all glitters are alike and not all glitters feel and look luxurious. Glitter can easily go the wrong way and by the wrong way, I mean all over the place. This long-wearing sparkle eyeshadow from Stila has an easy stick for application and goes on smooth. You still want to be sure to place some loose powder under the eye to catch any falling flicks of sparkle. Add a bold eyeliner to keep this look sexy and mature.

Jewel Toned Eyes

Pat Mcgrath is currently making some of the most beautifully hued shadows of our time. Swiping a intense celestial pigment like ”Blitz Emerald” is a super easy and quick way to scream “party!!!” Be sure to keep the lip simple so there’s no eye-lip competition.

Eye Popping Winged Liner

One of the fastest ways to add a pop of fun to your eyes is by lining the eye in a dramatic shape. Think cat-eye but then take it one inch further. Wet a thin makeup brush, dip it into a saturated eyeshadow pigment like Il Makiage’s “Killing it” and line your eye nice and steady. Then pull the tip of the eye AKA the wing as far as you can comfortably go. MEOWWWW!
