Olive & June Introduces “The Poppy” and Their 7-Free Nail Polish
Denise Vasi
Spring has sprung and so has a new clean nail polish line! Its $8 price tag makes it incredibly affordable, and it’s made by one of L.A.’s chicest nail salons, Olive & June. With three locations, a long celebrity client list and a consistently growing Instagram following, it’s no surprise that O&J has been working on developing more merchandise. Their recent launch, however, isn’t about getting you into their salons but instead helping you achieve the perfect manicure at home. That’s right, Sarah Gibson Tuttle, an equity sales trader, turned nail salon owner wants everyone to have the ability to give themselves a flawless mani right in the comfort of their own home.
Gibson Tuttle went sans salon visits, painting her own nails for one year straight so she could thoroughly investigate what it took to replicate salon looking results at home. That type of research and dedication led to creating a high-gloss, streak-free formula, finding the perfect paint brush, and inventing what could arguably be called the most innovative nail tool to hit the at-home nail market in years.
The Polishes
Olive & June’s new polish line consists of six neutral hues and a topcoat polish that are free of the seven most dangerous chemicals found in traditional nail polishes. That means no dibutyl phthalate (DBP), toluene or formaldehyde, also known as the “toxic trio.” There’s also no formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, and xylene, which are four other very toxic chemicals commonly used in nail polish formulas. O&J’s 7-free polish is also vegan and cruelty-free.
The subtle shades are all named after O&J friends like “Mandy” as in actress Mandy Moore and “Geri,” OG blogger Geri Hirsch.
The Poppy
We all know how frustrating giving yourself a manicure can be. You get one beautifully perfect polished hand, and then there’s “the other hand!” Thanks to your shaky, unstable non-dominant hand—“the other hand” looks like a hot mess. Gibson Tuttle set out to change DIY home manicures forever by creating “The Poppy.” The Poppy is a universal bottle topper, made from silicone that you can pop onto any brand of nail polish. It’s the ultimate stabilizer ensuring your less dominant hand can maintain control, giving you a mess-free, salon-worthy mani.
We can’t wait to see how O&J’s product line continues to flourish. In the meantime, we’ll be here oohing and aahing over The Poppy. It proves to be the best $16 you could spend on your nails.
