5 Beauty Items I Use Every Day
Denise Vasi
When it comes to beauty products I tend to mix things up, maybe it’s just me, but I feel like my skin can get comfortable and it stops reacting the way it once did to a product. That’s when I know it’s time for a time-out. I’ll take a few weeks or a few months off and that gives me the opportunity to try new products that I get to review for myself and the site. Often I switch up the products I use if I’m traveling or if there’s a weather change. For example, when I spend time in New York, during the winter months, I use much thicker face moisturizers, and I mix heavy body creams with oils to keep my skin hydrated.
That being said, there are some basics that I never stray away from, my everyday, no-matter-what, always-come-with-me beauty items. These are the ones I’m most asked about on Instagram as well. So here’s my short list of the five items I use every day and never leave home without.
Jade Roller
Jade rolling is how I start every morning no matter what city I wake up in. Jade rolling immediately wakes me up and instantly perks up my entire face. It’s easy to travel with, doesn’t need to refrigerated (although I do toss mine in the freezer for an extra morning jolt), and you can also use it as part of your nighttime routine. If you haven’t used a jade roller or need more info on all the benefits check out MAED’s “Get Your Roll On!” article. There’s also a step-by-step diagram to teach you the best technique for face rolling.
Konjac Sponge
The best ten dollars I spend every three months is on a Konjac Sponge. This sponge that is widely used in Korea, Japan, and China is a natural cleanser and non-toxic exfoliator for the face. 100% natural, effective, eco-conscious and with a $10 price tag it’s incredibly pocket-friendly. Gold Eye Patches
These 24K Gold Eye Patches from Peter Thomas Roth are my go-to eye patches. I’ve been experimenting with others trying to find something I love from a clean beauty brand as well as trying to find eye patches that aren’t so costly, but the truth is nothing compares to these. After I jade roll and wash my face, I put these bad boys on and leave them on for 20 minutes. They help reduce of sight of puffiness and make my whole under eye area look tight and firm. According to the brand that’s because the “hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed collagen deliver rich hydration and the caffeine helps reduce the appearance of puffiness.” They aren’t cheap, they cost $75 but you do get 30 pairs, and they work!
Red Lipstick
Y’all know I rarely go anywhere without my lips on. Something about wearing red lipstick makes me feel put together even on the days when I’m falling apart. My signature every day non-toxic red lip is “Rebound” by RMS. This is the lippie I rock guilt free. I can kiss my little girl on the lips and eat a meal without worry. Non-Toxic Face Wipes
When it comes to taking off my makeup at the end of the day, I want a product that is non-toxic, gentle on my skin, smells good and most importantly works. These Ursa Major face wipes are so easy and don’t irritate my skin at all. I use them to remove my makeup before I wash my face. The convenient grab-and-go single packaging makes these perfect for travel. They’re also great on a bare face when you just want to remove dirt and grime from the day. My husband is also addicted!
