Why I Love Beautycounter

If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ve heard me mention Beautycounter on several occasions. Beautycounter is well known as a “pioneer” in the safer beauty and cosmetics movement. Not only have they made it their mission to create clean products, but they have also lobbied on Capitol Hill for stricter cosmetic safety laws. While the FDA only prohibits (or restricts) 30 chemical ingredients in cosmetics, Beautycounter has 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals voluntarily banned from their products. They call it their “Never List.”

Here’s how I used Beautycounter’s Flawless In Five set to create a quick and fresh look.

My Five Minute Makeup Routine

I used the Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation in Golden Dove. What I love about this product is that it’s buildable. For a daytime look, I evened out my skin tone by applying a light, thin layer. I can add additional layers of foundation to build coverage, and achieve a more “done-up” look for evenings.

When applying any foundation, you always want to start at the center of your face. Blend from your nose onto the apples of your cheeks and then onto your forehead and chin.

The Touchup Skin Concealer Pen is the best clean beauty concealer I’ve come across. Not only does it work, but Medium 2 is my exact match! I love how lightweight and hydrating this concealer is. It also doesn’t settle into those pesky little lines around the eyes.

After applying the concealer to your under-eye area, you’ll want to dab the product into the skin with your ring finger or a BeautyBlender. The eye area is extremely delicate and you don’t want to irritate the skin by rubbing.  Start from the inner corner of the eye and work your way out.

The Brilliant Brow Gel will give you the illusion of fuller thicker brows. Medium is the perfect match for me.

When I use a tinted brow gel, I always start at the end of my brow and work inwards, this way I’m not adding a ton of product to the front. Once at the front, I use the brush to very lightly comb the hairs up and out.

I love that there’s zero flaking or smudging with the Volumizing Mascara. The large hourglass-shaped brush helps keep my eyelashes defined. I like to get the brush as close as possible to my lash line. I wiggle it back and forth, as I comb up towards the tip of my lashes.

For a fresh daytime look I use one coat. For an evening look I’ll use two or three coats and also apply the mascara to my lower lashes.

Blinking your eyes as you wiggle and comb the brush through is a great trick to separate the lashes. It will also help prevent clumping.

The Satin Powder Blushes adds the perfect amount of color to create natural-looking flushed cheeks. For my look, I used Nectar.

I like to sweep the blush onto the outer corner of my cheekbones in an upward motion, then add a light touch of color to my temples.

It’s no secret I adore a matte red lip but perfecting that application is not quick. It’s a lot easier to fix a lip gloss mistake. I chose Poppy, a red, pink shimmer. Beautycounter’s hydrating Lip Gloss accentuates your natural lip color by adding a beautiful sheer tint.

I apply lip gloss starting from the center of the lips moving out towards the corners of the mouth. You don’t want to rub your lips together after applying because it pushes the product out towards the lip line, making the lips look unfinished.
