Why Staying Hydrated Matters for Your Skin
You probably already know that your body consists of 70% water and that your skin is your largest organ. This means water is super important for the health of your skin! During our skincare challenge, I want you to reevaluate your relationship with water. Are you getting enough? Are you drinking it throughout the day or only when you’re at home? When we talk about nourishing our skin from within, that means staying hydrated.
What Happens When Your Skin Is Dehydrated
We all know what it feels like when our bodies are dehydrated. We have headaches, we feel lethargic, and we just don’t function at our best. Your skin also doesn’t function the way it should when it’s not properly hydrated.
When your skin lacks adequate hydration from the inside, it becomes dry, flaky, and tight. The skin barrier weakens, which often leads to sensitive skin—redness, itchiness, and even infection. Dry skin shows fine lines and wrinkles more readily, and your skin looks dull and unhealthy.
In contrast, hydrated skin is plump, glowy, and healthy looking. Try taking a selfie before you start drinking 64 ounces of water a day and then take another after a week of drinking 64 ounces, then look at the difference in your skin!
