Mango, Aloe & Manuka Honey Smoothie Inspired By Hair Food

Nourishing the body with high-quality ingredients is a frequent discussion with my daughter. My goal is always to empower her to make her own conscious choices regarding what she puts into her body. Getting together in the kitchen creates a wonderful organic opportunity to teach her about the importance of fueling her body with good food.

Lately, she’s been extremely curious about my beauty routines. I think in part because she sees how much I enjoy the time I dedicate to my skincare and haircare rituals and partially because she’s excited by the fact that I get to try tons of beauty products as part of my job.

Instead of asking me to bake cookies, she now asks for spa nights, which has been the perfect way to open the conversation on how I choose beauty products. Since she’s five years old, I thought creating a recipe similar to the products I was using would be a fun way to help her connect what she already knows about choosing foods with the importance of deciding what to put on the body.

Together we created this delicious smoothie recipe based on beauty products that believe that what you put on your body is just as important as what you eat. I was inspired by the Hair Food Manuka Honey & Apricot shampoo and conditioner and Hair Food’s Mango & Aloe Curl Defining Smoothie leave in styling product.

I recently dyed my hair, so I was extra excited to try Hair Food’s Manuka Honey & Apricot shampoo and conditioner. The sulfate-free, paraben-free manuka honey shampoo and conditioner combo left my hair feeling soft and moisturized. It’s great for all types and textures  of hair in need of hydration.

Hair Food’s Mango & Aloe Curl Defining Smoothie has been in my haircare arsenal all year. This curly hair styling product is what wash-and-go dreams are made of. A little goes a long way and leaves you with shiny, bouncy, defined curls.

I love that Hair Food takes into consideration how they combine their ingredients—each collection is designed similar to a recipe you might find in someone’s kitchen, but what I appreciate most about Hair Food’s products is that they are affordable, cruelty-free, free of sulfates, parabens, dyes, and mineral oils and they’re accessible. You can easily order online here or via Amazon, Target, or Walmart.

Using hair care products to create a recipe expanded our mommy-daughter chat from food to better beauty products.

My daughter thought using Hair Food’s products as inspiration for this hydrating vitamin-packed smoothie was fun and creative. She also thought this was one of the best recipes we’ve created in a long time.
